Record a radio play….but how? Report on the recording

58

On February 3 we visited Luke Michnal’s recording studio – M-Lucas DJ Sound in Zarzecz. Our goal was to record a radio play. Beforehand, we developed a script on our own. It was based on the content of a role-playing game that can be played with a group of friends or acquaintances in GEN’s media room.

The realization of this task was arch-interesting for us, but not at all easy. Before starting work, Mr. Luke gave us valuable advice, e.g. to be ourselves while recording, not to talk too fast or stand too close to the microphone. We recorded individual scenes, which were only edited at the end. There were times when we made mistakes in reading the script, so we recorded numerous retakes.

The second stage of work was to record voice sounds, which were later added at appropriate places during editing. We recorded, for example, the sounds of drinking water, munching or eating. We searched for other sounds on the Internet and matched them to the content of our story.

We learned what the processing of sound files is all about – some sounds or noises can be muted, while others can be amplified. After recording, we were able to listen to the whole thing. We were very surprised at how our voices sounded on the recording.

After finishing our work, we thanked Mr. Luke warmly. On the way home we couldn’t stop talking about our project. Overall, we had a lot of fun and laughed endlessly at our mistakes. In short, it was a super experience.
