Young students of Jasło Children’s University have completed an inspiring journey along the paths of science dotted with fascinating scientific experiments and knowledge of new technologies. Last Saturday (April 13 this year), the listeners of the Junior University almost all turned up at the GEN Science Generator to sum up their participation in the fourteenth edition of the educational project implemented by the City of Jasło. During the gala event, there was no shortage of thanks, commemorative diplomas, gifts and interesting scientific demonstrations performed by the “Science Hevelians.”

The 2023/24 academic year of the Junior University was full of scientific activities. The “Curious World”, “Explorers” and “Explorers” activity groups took part in a number of very interesting science-themed workshops and activities where they could learn more about the application of new technologies. It is worth noting that some of the workshops were prepared and conducted by educators of the GEN Science Generator. As a result, children were able to try their hand at programming with LEGO bricks, conduct interesting experiments in the Little Scientist’s Laboratory, take part in scientific and natural science workshops, or DIY workshops.

The fourteenth edition of the educational project, which has enjoyed unflagging popularity among Jaslo’s youngest residents for more than a decade, turned out to be exceptional due to the involvement of scientific and educational partners Generator and the City of Jaslo. Last November, all activity groups took part in an off-site scientific workshop organized by employees of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow. In April this year, in turn, the children visited the Rzeszow University of Technology.

On Saturday (April 13 this year), the young students of the Junior University took part in a gala summing up the fourteenth edition of the project. Children and parents gathered in the auditorium were welcomed by Krzysztof Haluch, head of the GEN Science Generator. – Today, from this place I would like to thank you very much for diligently attending the classes of the Jasielski Children’s University. Both you and your parents deserve a huge round of applause. I would like to thank the parents for attending the away workshops and the GEN Science Generator team. Without your involvement, we would not have organized such interesting workshops. I hope that we will meet in a similar group in a few months. We are already thinking about what activities to plan with the participants of the next edition of the Junior University in mind, ” he said.

Each participant of the event received a commemorative diploma and a scientific gift. The proverbial icing on the cake was a scientific demonstration performed by Paweł Jaskólski. The co-founder of the Hevelius of Science group presented several interesting experiments and experiences that allowed children to better understand some physical phenomena.

Among other things, they learned what air resistance and viscosity, pressure, the principles of aerodynamics, and vacuum.
The fourteenth edition of Jasło Children’s University was attended by 75 young residents of Jaslo aged 6 to 8. The task of Jasielski Children’s University is carried out within the framework of the project “Jaslo – City of Knowledge” from the project “Jaslo – my city, my home” funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget.
