14 research teams made up of Jasło elementary and high school students worked for five months on their research projects in the first edition of the Exchange of Brilliant Ideas for Jasło. In the high school category, the winner was the team whose goal was to create an “Electronic mascot of the Science Generator in Jasło,” while in the elementary school category the young researchers tackled the issue of radio plays and created their own radio play.

I very much appreciate these types of competitions, in which our Jasło youth can present their passions, primarily because they make us realize how great the potential is also in the younger generation of Jasło residents,” said during the final gala, Ryszard Pabian, mayor of Jasło, who also recalled that the implementation of the “Jasło-city of knowledge” program would not have been possible without the great commitment of his deputy Małgorzata Adamska-Chmiel.

Dr. Krzysztof Głuc, a lecturer at the Cracow University of Economics, an expert who has been cooperating with the city on the implementation of the Jasło-city-of-knowledge program for more than a dozen years, was also a guest at the gala. – The most important thing is to let young people realize their own ideas and let them come to it on their own. Only in this way, by overcoming difficulties and starting again often from the very beginning, can success be achieved. In every young person there is this strength, this talent, only it often remains undiscovered. Programs such as the one in Jasielski make this possible,” said K. Gluc.

Participants in the GGP competition were divided into two age categories: elementary and secondary schools. At the same time, it was additionally possible to choose a project category from: scientific-research, social and practical-construction. The realized ideas were evaluated by an expert committee consisting of Barbara Czernecka (chairwoman), Barbara Gonera and Wieslaw Hap (committee members). In addition, the entire competition was supervised by Aleksandra Dacyl, an external expert.

Importantly, at the request of the City of Jasło, the competition was included in the curatorial list of knowledge, artistic and sports competitions organized in the school year 2022/2023 by the school superintendent, which can be listed on the elementary school graduation certificate. This means that awarded and distinguished elementary school students can receive an entry about the place or distinction won on the school graduation certificate and receive additional points during recruitment.
