Like a phoenix from the ashes – 80th anniversary of the displacement and demolition of Jasło

212

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the displacement and demolition of Jasło. A city that was completely destroyed during World War II, but which was reborn like a phoenix from the ashes thanks to the strength and determination of its residents.

The displacement and destruction of Jasło remains a kind of precedent to this day. Basically, for no reason and without conducting hostilities, the city was turned to ashes, displacing its residents. The commemoration of this event is an important moment that not only prompts reflection on the past, but also strengthens the sense of belonging to our local community. The residents who returned to the ruins rebuilt Jasło, and it is the residents who are one of Jaslo’s greatest potentials, because the rebirth was made possible precisely by their determination and commitment. The same force that fostered the residents in rebuilding Jaslo today drives them to action, to professional, cultural and social activity.

Inauguration of celebrations – film, exhibition, old photographs in the city
On March 15, the public is invited to participate in events inaugurating the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the displacement and demolition of Jaslo. A meeting with the “history of Jasło” will be held at 12 pm in the Jasło Cultural Center, while the premiere of the documentary film “JASŁO 44” is scheduled for 6 pm. Due to great interest, we invite our residents to an additional free screening of the film at 8:30 pm also at JDK. Entrance tickets will be available at the Tourist and Cultural Information Center in Jaslo from March 5 this year until seats run out.
For those who are unable to attend the film screening on the opening day, the Regional Museum in Jaslo has prepared additional film screenings at its headquarters – see the poster for details.
In addition, from March 15, there will also be an outdoor exhibition and banners displaying old photographs of the city.

Jubilee year
The premiere of the film “Jasło 44” inaugurates a painful anniversary for the city. Subsequent cultural events, exhibitions, lectures or discussions, organized throughout the year, are intended to help understand and appreciate, especially for the younger generations of Jaslo residents, the difficult moments in the city’s history. Organizations, institutions and establishments operating in the city have joined in the organization of the following events. We will keep you informed about the planned activities.

The event “Like a Phoenix from the Ashes – the inauguration of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the displacement and demolition of Jasło” will be held within the framework of the project “City is Me”, in connection with the implementation of the project “Jasło – my city, my home”, financed from the funds of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget.

The executor of the task is the Stanislaw Kadyi Regional Museum in Jaslo. The purpose of the task is to strengthen among residents the sense of being part of the Jaslo local community (in accordance with the slogan City of Jasło – it’s me), to increase the number of people who identify with Jasło, proud of their origins in Jasło, its cultural heritage and history, to stimulate emotional ties with the city, as well as to increase the activity of residents through direct participation in many events, including those commemorating important events in the history of our city.
