Henryk Miśkiewicz and Dorota Miśkiewicz will perform in a unique concert entitled. “Our Love”, dedicated to Jerzy “Dudus” Matuszkiewicz. The event will take place on January 24 this year at 6 pm at the Jasielski Dom Kultury, and will be preceded by a meeting (at 5:30 pm) at the musical bench on the square next to JDK (at the intersection of Kosciuszki and Rejtana streets). Admission cards are required for the concert, which can be picked up at the secretariat of the Jasielski Dom Kultury (one person can receive a maximum of 2 pieces).
Commemorating this famous composer and musician in Jasło is a matter of course. Hence the idea of developing a square in the vicinity of the JDK dedicated to the composer and setting up an original musical bench, which was successfully made at the end of last year. And it is on January 24, in a concert atmosphere, that it will be made available to residents.
“Our Love” is the first joint project of father Henry and daughter Dorothy, and the album with this material was released (not coincidentally) in 2021 and coincided with Henry’s 70th birthday. The concerts and album consisted of premiere songs written primarily by Henryk and Dorota, complemented by a composition by Michał Miśkiewicz.
Father and daughter have performed together before, but never before as part of a specially prepared program. Stylistically, it is defined by both lyricism and dynamic, charismatic jazz. The lyrics to the songs were written by Bogdan Loebl, Ewa Lipska, and Grzegorz Turnau. “Our Love” was also marked by Wojciech Młynarski with his talent.
And especially for the concert in Jaslo, the artists have enriched the program with songs featuring the music of the master Matuszkiewicz. On January 24 this year we will hear well-known compositions from the films “Janosik”, “Stake More Than Life”, as well as beautiful ballads: “Oddalasz się”, “La Valse du mal”. There will also be a song – a tribute to Dudus and his times “Ach, to był szał, gdy Duduś gra na saksofonie”, with words by Wojciech Młynarski. The Jasiel concert will feature:Dorota Miśkiewicz (vocals), Henryk Miśkiewicz (saxophone), Michał Tokaj (piano), Sławomir Kurkiewicz (double bass), Michał Miśkiewicz (drums).
The remembrance of Jerzy Matuszkiewicz could not take place without the participation of young, musically talented Jasiel performers. The concert will also feature Karolina Polak and Maciej Ochwat, recipients of the Jerzy “Dudus” Matuszkiewicz Artistic Scholarship, as well as Mikołaj Majda, current and former participants of vocal classes at the Jasło Cultural Center.
The concert “Our Love” is invited by the City of Jasło and the Jasielsk Cultural Center. The event is organized by the City of Jasło as part of the project “Jasło – my city, my home”, financed by funds from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021 and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021 and the state budget.
