Jasło is among 29 cities that have received funding from the “Local Development” program financed by the Norwegian Funds. The outcome of the competition was announced today in Warsaw by Waldemar Buda, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. Each of the winning projects will receive co-financing of over EUR 3.5 million. In total, 29 cities will receive more than €102 million in support.

Two teams worked on the preparation of the municipal project “Jasło, my city, my home”. One of them worked on the Local Development Program (LDP) and the other on the Institutional Development Program (IDP). Both teams consisted of over 40 people from various local government, economic and social circles. Local inhabitants were also involved in the work (questionnaire surveys, team work).

-I would like to thank all inhabitants of our city for their engagement and for their time, every vote, every opinion was important for us, as they helped us to prepare documents regarding development of our city – emphasizes Ryszard Pabian, Mayor of Jaslo. – We are very happy with the received funds, as thanks to them we will be able to carry out tasks that will influence the social and economic development of our city.

Reminder:

  • In January 2020. The City of Jasło was among 54 cities (out of 213 participating in the Program), which were qualified to the second stage in the Local Development competition.
  • Consequently, from January to October 2020, in cooperation with the Association of Polish Cities, the so-called new path of development for the City of Jasło was prepared, included in two operational documents: Local Development Plan (LDP) and Institutional Development Plan (IDP).
  • 6 key areas were diagnosed in the PRL: economic, social, environmental, spatial, intelligent city management and financing the city development. 37 projects planned to be implemented within the next 3 years were prepared, covering both key investments for the city of Jasło and many social and educational activities.
  • As part of IDP, activities aimed at more effective functioning of the office in close cooperation with the inhabitants were defined.
  • The scope of prepared activities was included in the project “Jasło-my city, my home” submitted for EEA and NMF funding. Jasło applied for a possible grant of 10 million euros. Now that the amount of funds (for all 29 selected cities) has been reduced to €3.5 million, it will be necessary to adjust the scope of the project to the funds received.
  • The money for the development of Polish cities comes from a special pool of funds granted by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to several countries of Central and Southern Europe as well as the Baltic States. In return, the three countries have access to the internal market of the European Union, even though they are not members of it.
