The “Let’s grow Jaslo!” project, co-financed by the Swiss Funds, includes not only investment-related activities. It also involves initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the residents of our city through better adaptation of social services to their needs. One of these initiatives is the transformation of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Jasło into a Social Services Centre.
One place = many social services
This initiative is not merely about changing the institution’s name. It is a genuine transformation of a traditional social welfare institution into an entity responsible for implementing and operating a new model of social services in our city.
The new institution will continue the current activities of the Centre while expanding its operations to include comprehensive and coordinated social services for residents of all age groups. It will be a place where every resident of Jasło can receive support tailored to their individual needs.
The Social Services Centre will operate as a “one-stop shop”. This means that residents will gain access to various forms of support provided by local service providers in one place, without the need to contact each institution separately.
Due to demographic changes, particularly the growing number of dependent persons, including senior citizens, the Centre’s activities will largely focus on supporting these individuals and their families. Another important target group will be families with children.
It is also worth emphasizing that transforming the Municipal Social Welfare Centre into a Social Services Centre will increase the institution’s capacity to obtain external funding.
Improved accessibility
The funding obtained by the City of Jasło will also make it possible to remove architectural barriers, which will directly improve the accessibility of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre building, where the Social Services Centre will be located after the transformation. The building at 25 Szkolna Street will be better adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities.
The scope of modernization works will include, among other things, the installation of an external elevator and the reconstruction of the entrance area and selected interior spaces of the building.
Support for social initiatives
An important role in the operation of the Social Services Centre will be played by the Local Community Organizer, whose responsibilities will include community-based activities, supporting self-help initiatives, and developing neighbourhood support networks.
The Centre’s tasks will be carried out by the current employees of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Jasło. The project does not provide for an increase in employment.
The transformation of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre into a Social Services Centre in Jasło is being implemented as part of the “Let’s grow Jaslo!” project, co-financed by the Swiss Funds supporting the reduction of economic and social disparities within the European Union and by the state budget.
